AI & Machine Learning Data Use Policy

Restrictions on using GeneticCoding content to train or operate AI and machine-learning systems.

GeneticCoding content is made available for people to read, learn from, and cite. Using it as training or evaluation material for AI systems requires a written license.

1. Prohibited AI uses

Unless expressly permitted by a written license, systematic use of GeneticCoding proprietary content or database records for the following is prohibited:

  • Training machine-learning models.
  • Fine-tuning models.
  • Building retrieval corpora.
  • Building embeddings databases.
  • Building commercial AI datasets.
  • Knowledge graph replication.
  • Synthetic database generation.
  • Building competing genomic AI products.
  • Building benchmarking datasets that redistribute GeneticCoding content.

2. Scope of this restriction

This restriction applies to GeneticCoding proprietary and licensed content — our annotations, organization, compilation, scoring artifacts, classifications, and other original and derived contributions. It is not intended to claim rights over independently existing public-domain facts, which remain subject to their applicable legal status.

3. Licensing for AI use

Organizations interested in licensing GeneticCoding data for AI or machine-learning purposes can request licensing via our API & Commercial Data Licensing page or at /contact?subject=data-licensing. We evaluate such requests individually.
