Cookie Policy
How GeneticCoding uses cookies and similar technologies, and the choices you have.
1. What we use
GeneticCoding uses cookies and browser local storage in three categories: strictly necessary storage that keeps the site secure and functioning; preference storage that remembers your choices (like theme and cookie consent); and, only with your consent, Google Analytics for aggregate traffic measurement.
2. Essential storage
Strictly necessary storage includes:
- Authentication and session tokens that keep you signed in securely.
- Your cookie-consent decision, so we don't ask you again on every page.
- Your theme preference (light or dark mode).
3. Analytics (only with your consent)
We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, which pages are visited and how the site is used — for example, page views and the browser and region of visitors. Google Analytics is only loaded after you press "Accept" in the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics scripts are loaded at all, and your choice is remembered. We never send genetic data, rsIDs, report contents, or account details to analytics.
4. Your choices
When you first visit, a banner asks you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your decision at any time from this page using the "Change my cookie choice" button below, which resets your stored decision so the banner reappears on your next visit. You can also clear cookies and site data from your browser settings at any time; essential storage will simply be re-created as you use the site.
5. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our storage practices evolve. Material changes will be reflected in the version number and last-updated date at the top of this page.
Resets your stored decision so the cookie banner appears again on your next visit.
