We use cookies

Essential storage keeps the site working (sign-in, theme, this choice). We'd also like to load Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used — never your genetic data. See our Cookie Policy.

Data Redistribution & Export Policy

What you can do with GeneticCoding content you obtain — and what you cannot.

Effective September 5, 2026Last updated September 5, 2026Version 1.0
There is an important difference between reading information, keeping your own report, and redistributing our database. This policy draws that line.

1. Levels of access, levels of rights

Rights differ depending on the kind of access involved:

  • Viewing information on the site — permitted for ordinary use.
  • Downloading a customer's own report — permitted; it's your report.
  • Using individual factual information — subject to the fact's own legal status and our attribution practices.
  • Accessing proprietary GeneticCoding annotations — licensed for personal use only, per our Terms.
  • API access — only under a separate written license.
  • Bulk database access — only under a separate written license.
  • Redistribution or sublicensing — only under a separate written license.

2. Your own report

A customer may generally retain and share their own personal report, subject to our Terms of Use. Sharing a report with family, a provider, or a genetic counselor is the intended use of the personal-use license that comes with a purchased report.

Report access must not be used as a mechanism to reconstruct or harvest the underlying GeneticCoding database. Generating or collecting reports at scale, or extracting annotations across reports, is prohibited.

3. Prohibited redistribution

Unless expressly authorized under a written license, the following are prohibited:

  • Bulk redistribution of GeneticCoding content or data.
  • Republication of substantial portions of the database.
  • Sublicensing.
  • Mirroring.
  • Resale.
  • Database extraction.
  • Creating competing data products from GeneticCoding content.

4. Need redistribution rights?

If your project requires redistribution, sublicensing, or bulk access, see our API & Commercial Data Licensing page or contact us at /contact?subject=data-licensing.
