Data Governance & Provenance
How GeneticCoding manages the sources, provenance, and rights status of the information behind its reports and encyclopedia.
1. Kinds of sources we rely on
GeneticCoding may rely on public databases, government databases, open-license databases, scientific literature, third-party sources, curated scientific resources, and GeneticCoding original and derived content. Each source retains its own ownership and license terms.
2. Provenance we track
To keep our knowledgebase verifiable, GeneticCoding tracks source provenance and may maintain information such as:
- Source identity.
- Source references and citations.
- Last verification date.
- Evidence provenance for each annotation.
- Revision information.
- Conflict and correction history.
- Audit status.
- Applicable usage rights.
3. Public availability does not mean unrestricted redistribution
A source being publicly available does not necessarily mean it may be freely redistributed. Different sources may carry different rules for attribution, commercial use, derivative works, public display, API redistribution, bulk redistribution, and sublicensing. We account for these differences in how we present, link, and attribute third-party information, and in the rights we grant to others in our own content.
4. GeneticCoding original & derived content
GeneticCoding may produce original annotations, classifications, confidence assessments, evidence evaluations, normalization, taxonomies, derived relationships, historical corrections, audit information, and other derived data. These original and derived contributions — as well as our compilations, organization, and presentation — are part of what our Terms of Use reserve to GeneticCoding.
Our evaluation methodology is proprietary. These governance pages describe rights and policies at a high level and deliberately do not disclose internal evaluation logic or configuration.
5. Third-party materials
Third-party trademarks, databases, publications, content, and other materials remain subject to their respective ownership and license terms. GeneticCoding does not claim ownership of third-party materials merely because they are referenced, linked, analyzed, or incorporated into our research. See our Third-Party Data & Attribution policy.
